Oat Bread - Whole Wheat

BETA RECIPE

The original of this recipe used all white flour.

We're experimenting with using 2/3 white and 1/3 wheat flour and adding in some powdered milk.

This is for a "small" loaf which is plenty large.

1 c water

2/3 c white baking flour
1/2 c whole wheat flour - organic is nice
1/3 c rolled oats
1/3 c oat bran
1 1/2 T dry milk
2 T sugar
1/2 t salt

1 T butter - cut into pieces
1 1/2 t dry yeast

Add the water to the bread machine. Premix all the dry ingredients except for the yeast.
Add the dry ingredients to the bread machine (floating on top of the water.)
Place the butter pieces over the dry ingredients.
Sprinkle the yeast over the top.

Set the bread machine to the whole wheat regular size setting.
On a Hitachi this is #5.

This recipe tastes good, but has that lightweight quality you get with white bread.

1 c white baking flour
1/3 c rolled oats
1/3 c oat bran
2 T sugar
1/2 t salt
1 T butter
1 1/2 t dry yeast

For this, you would choose #1 bread medium (crust color)
