Light Whole Wheat Bread

This recipe uses half whole-wheat flour and half white flour. Raising the amount of whole-wheat makes for a very chewy consistency.

1 c water

1/2 c white baking flour
1/2 c whole wheat flour - organic is nice
1 1/2 T dry milk
3 T sugar
1/2 t salt

1 1/2 T butter - cut into pieces
1 1/2 t dry yeast

Add the water to the bread machine. Premix all the dry ingredients except for the yeast.
Add the dry ingredients to the bread machine (floating on top of the water.)
Place the butter pieces over the dry ingredients.
Sprinkle the yeast over the top.

Set the bread machine to the whole wheat regular size setting.
On a Hitachi this is #5.
